Environment Heroes and Leaders Stories
Posted on 10-05-2013
The Earth’s abundant natural resources are facing their biggest test of existence in today’s era of industrialization. One of the major tasks the international community is facing in the field of conservation of resources is the conversion of committed obligations into concrete actions that need to be implemented on the ground.
In this grim scenario, there are a few people among us who have donned the leaders’ hat and have gotten their hands dirty to be pioneers of change, to lead fellow-enthusiasts to make a difference with their own efforts without awaiting external support.
TCS World 10K salutes such environmental heroes who serve as inspiration for the rest of the community, by exhibiting extreme leadership and creativity in their efforts towards conserving the environment. Through this platform, we bring to you stories that teach, inspire and motivate. Stories like that of Saalumarada Thimmakka who got her name into history books by planting 284 banyan trees along a four-kilometre stretch of highway; or that of V.K. Gupta of Bihar’s Saran district, who single-handedly set up a renewable energy firm to tackle the issue of lack of electricity supply in his village. These are stories that need to be told and shared, to mobilize and motivate ourselves to make the world a better place to live in!
