The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2012 will provide Mylaps Sports Timing system to all Marathon and Half Marathon runners, both race categories being compulsorily timed races.
Confirmed runners of the Marathon (42.195 km) and Half Marathon (21.097 km) will get a 'single use' timing chip along with their running number from the Mumbai Marathon Expo.
It's necessary for every marathon and half marathon runner to personally collect his/her timing chip and running number from the Expo...
Please read the instructions given to you prior to tying the chip to your shoelace on race day. Each timing chip is specifically allocated to the running number of individual runners. DO NOT exchange either your timing chip or running number bib with another fellow runner. Any interchange will amount no timing and disqualification of your participation from the 2012 and 2013 edition.
Post this race, you can keep your timing chip as a souvenir. However, you will not be able to use this chip for timing yourself at any other distance running event.
The Mylaps Sports Timing is a high-tech, easy to use timing device. It can provide accurate net and split times for every individual athlete. A timing chip is a miniature transponder in a specially designed housing, marked with a unique identification number. The chip is a waterproof glass capsule that contains a silicon chip and an energizing coil. The timing chip can be used under all weather conditions, wet and dry, cold and hot. The chip starts to send its signal when it crosses various mats which are placed at the Start & Finish gates and at designated split points on the course. Your time at such points will be captured and duly recorded.
This timing technology will be provided and managed by Timing Technologies India (TTIL), the official distributor of the Mylaps Sports Timing System in India and Asia.
