FORMAT OF THE TCS WORLD 10K BANGALORE 2013
The World 10K Run for Elite Men and Women: The main draw of the day would be the 10K Run for Elite Men & Women, which also includes the Nations Challenge. With USD 128,000 up for grabs for the overall winners, up to 10th place, and a separate prize fund for Indian elite athletes in excess of Rs 21 lakh, the event is expected to attract the cream of professional long distance runners and track & field stars from around the world and India.
For the first time, a course record bonus of USD 7,500 is being offered to the overall men and women, supplemented by a bonus of Rs 1 lakh for a new Indian course record.
Nation's Challenge : This is a race format within the World 10K race category, open for participation only for State athletic associations affiliated to the Athletic Federation of India and Sports Control Boards recognized by the Athletic Federation of India.
Each athletic association/sports control board can field only one team, comprising three of its best athletes - two men and one woman athlete. Participation in the Nation's Challenge will be confirmed basis the qualifying timings of the participating athletes and the finish positions of the teams will be based on the aggregate of the finish times of its respective team members. The team with the fastest aggregate finish time will be declared as the winning Nation's Challenge team and will stand to gain prize money of Rs 4.5 lakh. The second-placed team will win Rs 3.25 lakh, followed by Rs 2.15 lakh for the third teams and Rs 1.10 lakh for the fourth.
Individual winners of the separate prize fund for Indians will also be eligible for the prize money in the Nation's Challenge if they are part of the winning teams, thus increasing the quantum of their potential winnings.
Senior Citizens' Run and Wheelchair Event : These two events, meant for senior citizens and the physically challenged will be flagged off within a few minutes of each other and will cover a distance of 4 kms. Around 1500 Senior Citizens and 100 wheelchair participants, along with their escorts, are expected to take part in the two events.
The Open 10K Run : This run will be an open event for serious and amateur runners, fitness enthusiasts and sports lovers, the 10km route being the same used by the elite runners. Besides getting an opportunity to follow in their illustrious footsteps, the Open 10K Run participants will be wearing a timing chip during their run, which will give them their timing down to the split second, as well as a timing certificate recognised globally. 10,000 running places are on offer for this category.The 10K Challenge (For Corporate Teams and College/University Teams):
The DHL Corporate Challenge is a contest within the 10K Challenge category open only for registered companies and firms.
A DHL Corporate Challenge team will comprise of 2 men and 1 woman full time current employees of the company/firm, with each member needing to complete the full distance of 10 km. A company/firm can field up to 10 such teams.
The average of the net finish timings of all 3 runners will decide the finish positions under this category. However, prize money winning positions will be awarded to the best one performing team of each participating company, depending upon their standings in the overall finish positions. A company will stand a chance of winning only one position out of the top 5 prize money positions in this race category, irrespective of their teams' overall standings.
A special Trophy will also be awarded to the 'Best Performing Company'.
1) Only a company fielding 5 or more teams will be eligible for this prize; 2) the winning company will be the one with the fastest cumulative finish time after collating the aggregate finish timings of each of its teams.
The Nike College Face Off is a contest within the 10K Challenge category, open only for universities and colleges of Bangalore.
A college/university can field up to 2 all boys' teams and/or 2 all girls' teams. The team members must be bonafide students of the respective college/university (no ex-students will be allowed to be part of the teams).
The average of the net finish timings of all 3 runners will decide the finish positions under this category.
The Majja Run: This run is targeted at every Banglorean who wants to come out on to the roads and express solidarity with the event that has put Bangalore on the world running map. Open to those above the age of 12, this run over 5.7 km encourages participants to raise money and support causes of their choice. The Majja Run has helped expose the simple joys of running to the uninitiated and inculcating a greater health & fitness awareness in the city. 14,000 running places are on offer for this category.

Registrations for the TCS World 10K Bangalore are on and will close on April 30, 2013 or until running places are filled, whichever is earlier. The official website for the TCS World 10K Bangalore is www.procamrunning.in through which online registrations can be done.
The website will also offer every participant an opportunity to purchase a personalized participation photograph through Marathon-Photos.com, the worldwide market leader in Event Photography & the Official Photographer to the Event. The website will also have a Volunteer Application Database - through which one can apply to volunteer for the Event. The website will evolve on a daily basis to include Blogs, Contests, Photos uploading etc.
The entry fee for participants living in India will be Rs 750 for the World 10K Elite Runs and the Open 10K Run and Rs 450 for the Majja Run. The entry fee for the Senior Citizens' Run and the Champions With Disability Event will be Rs 300 each.
For international participants, the fee will be US $ 40 for the World 10K and the Open 10K Run, US $ 20 for the Majja Run and US $ 10 for the Senior Citizens' Run and the Champions With Disability Event. The World 10K and the Open 10K Run are compulsorily timed race categories and the entry fee will include the cost for the one-time use timing chip, which can be then retained as a memento. Entry fee for International participants also includes the cost of the chip.
The entry fee for the Corporate Teams in the 10K Challenge is Rs 4,500 per team, while the entry fee for College/University Teams is Rs 1500 per team.

Hugh Jones, the legendary figure in the world of marathons, winner of the London Marathon in 1982, will continue as the Race Director to the event.
